As Chi Omegas, we place an extremely high value on scholastic achievement. Whether your educational endeavors happen inside or outside of the classroom, our sisters encourage one another and strive for academic excellence in all areas of our learning. Chi Omega offers a variety of scholarships, tutor reimbursements and academic resources to ensure our sisters are confident and prepared for their college courses.
Chi Omega has consistently received top scores for grades, ranking first overall for our all house cumulative GPA during the past few school years. We have members each year that receive awards for grades as well as top leaders of our community.
Study tables create an opportunity for all Chi O's to have a quiet and relaxing environment to complete schoolwork. They are particularly helpful during midterms and finals week, where many community areas like the library get very busy. Our house mom, puts out snacks for us when study tables are at the Chi O house! We organize study tables to accommodate your schedule, so they are available multiple times per week.
Grade point average
Our all house cumulative GPA for the 2017- 2018 school year was a 3.35, finishing off spring term with a 3.31! This is significantly higher than the UO undergrad grade point average of a 3.05. We attribute our chapters success to the ample amount of resources that we have access to, from textbooks donated by older members to scholarship events that allow for younger members to ask questions about majors they are interested in.
Many of our sisters take advantage of the multitude of study abroad programs. From studying journalism in London, marketing in Sienna, business in Copenhagen, marketing in Vienna or a semester at sea, our wanderlust is incurable as it is always easy to find a Psi Alpha abroad. A majority of our sisters have embarked on study abroad programs together, making their experience all the more special.
We believe that some of the most valuable educational experiences comes from outside of the classroom. Our sisters have had internships with the University of Oregon athletic office, PR firms and fashion retailers, Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), financial investment and accounting firms, the Academy of Country Music, Intel, working for senators in Washington DC and at marketing organizations all over the country.
Every spring, we host a scholarship dinner to recognize members of our chapter for their outstanding academic achievement. We are the only chapter on our campus who hosts such an event to celebrate the scholastic success of our sisters. Last year, we invited 78 sisters who received a 3.5 cumulative from both fall and winter term for a night of delicious food, a magician, free prizes and more!
